There are two buildings named the Tower and the Taj Mahal Palace of the hotel, which were built at different times and in different architectural styles. The hotel has 560 rooms, 11 restaurants serving different cuisines, and 44 suites. It was first opened up to guests on the 16th of December in the year 1903. The steel for the tower is the same as that used in Eiffel Tower, which was imported at the same time. It also has the pride of having installed the first steam elevator in India and to have used it.
